Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Designs and conducts experiments to synthesize and optimize oligonucleotide conjugation to proteins, peptides, and antibodies.

Role Summary:

The Scientist, Bioconjugation designs, synthesizes, purifies, characterizes, andoptimizesnovel bioconjugates that support Dyne’s therapeutic pipeline. This role appliesexpertisein bioconjugation chemistry, protein purification, oligonucleotide conjugation, and analytical characterization to solve scientific and technical challenges.Prior experience in design, synthesis, purification, and/or characterization of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and/or antibody-oligonucleotide conjugates (AOCs) is a plus.The Scientist collaborates closely with colleagues across chemistry, protein engineering, analytical sciences, process development, biology, and other functions to advance therapeutic programs from discovery through development.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Designs and conducts experiments to synthesize and optimize the conjugation of oligonucleotides to proteins, peptides, and antibodies.
  • D evelops and evaluates novel conjugation strategies, linker technologies, and site-specific modification approaches.
  • Purifies and characterizes bioconjugates using chromatographic, spectroscopic, and complementary analytical techniques.
  • Analyzes and interprets experimental data to guide molecular design, experimental strategy, and process optimization.
  • Independently troubleshoots complex synthetic, purification, and analytical challenges.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to advance therapeutic candidates and achieve project milestones.
  • Maintains detailed and accurate experimental records and communicates findings through technical reports, presentations, and team discussions.
  • Contributes to internal technology development initiatives and bioconjugation platform innovation.
  • Supports the transfer of conjugation processes to development and manufacturing teams as programs advance.
  • Maintains current knowledge of emerging technologies and scientific literature in bioconjugation, protein chemistry, and oligonucleotide therapeutics.

Education and Skills Requirements:

  • PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical biology, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related scientific discipline with 0–3 years of industry experience; or a master’s degree with 8+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Hands-on experience in bioconjugation chemistry and protein purification.
  • Experience with the conjugation of proteins, peptides, antibodies, or oligonucleotides.
  • Strong understanding of linker chemistry, conjugation mechanisms, and site-specific modification strategies.
  • Hands-on experience with purification techniques, including HPLC, FPLC, size-exclusion chromatography, ion-exchange chromatography, and affinity chromatography.
  • Experience with analytical characterization methods such as LC-MS, UPLC, capillary electrophoresis, SDS-PAGE, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and dynamic light scattering.
  • Knowledge of protein chemistry, oligonucleotide therapeutics, or antibody-based therapeutics.
  • Ability to independently design and execute experimental work within defined research projects, applying sound scientific methodology to address increasingly complex problems.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and clearly communicate experimental data to support program advancement and scientific decision-making.
  • Strong scientific curiosity and an innovative, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent experimental planning, execution, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with internal partners toward shared scientific objectives.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet timelines, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative biotechnology environment.

MA Pay Range

$115,000 — $140,000 USD

The pay range reflects the base pay range Dyne reasonably expects to pay for this role at the time of posting. Individual compensation depends on factors such as education, experience, job-related knowledge, and demonstrated skills.
