Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (occasional weekends)

This is a full-time, onsite, Scientist 3 position located in Peoria, IL, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Compensation: $22.00 per hour

The salary for this position reflects a variety of factors. Compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s geographic location, relevant experience, education, skills, and alignment with internal equity. Market conditions, budgetary considerations, and organizational compensation guidelines may also influence the final offer.

Responsible for providing or overseeing the analysis, administration, and oversight of comprehensive chemistry/biochemistry policies, programs, and practices. Provides guidance and feedback on the analysis of materials, products, and/or devices using advanced to highly specialized technical knowledge of chemistry/biochemistry, instrumentation, testing, and procedures.

Essential Functions
  • Conduct complex to specialized analysis of materials, products, and/or devices using analytical instrumentation in accordance with established methods and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Review, interpret, and document complex to specialized testing results.
  • Oversee, review, and process a wide range of chemistry/biochemistry documentation, databases, and related materials.
  • Provide training and guidance on analytical methods, instrumentation, and testing procedures.
  • Deliver advanced technical analysis, interpretation, and consultation to staff and leadership on chemistry/biochemistry programs, policies, and practices.
  • Conduct research and provide recommendations to address operational, employee, and customer needs; coordinate responses as required.
  • Analyze complex operational data and trends; present findings, recommendations, and improvement opportunities to management.
  • Ensure accuracy of testing, equipment, procedures, and data through audits, reviews, and quality checks; collaborate with teams to resolve discrepancies.
  • Support development and execution of chemistry/biochemistry or cross-functional projects, including scope, timelines, resources, and deliverables.
  • Interpret and apply policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements; seek guidance as needed.
  • Contribute to department effectiveness through continuous improvement and active participation in team initiatives.
  • Promote and support Pace Analytical’s mission through professional, cooperative interactions that foster a positive work environment.
Qualifications
Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or a closely related field; AND at least five (5) years of relevant experience, including work with specialized or technical programs or operations; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Advanced principles, practices, and techniques of chemistry/biochemistry.
  • Administration and oversight of chemistry/biochemistry programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Methods for resolving complex and specialized technical issues.
  • Applicable chemistry/biochemistry laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Analytical testing tools, instrumentation, and calibration processes.
  • Computer applications and systems related to the work.
  • Effective teamwork and project collaboration principles.
  • Communication strategies to ensure safe and effective operations.
  • Proper business English, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Physical/Mental Requirements

Mobility to work in a lab and office setting, use standard office and lab equipment and stamina to sit for extended periods of time; exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects; vision to read printed materials and computer screens; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.

Working Environment

Work is performed in laboratory and office settings. Exposure to chemicals, fumes, gases, noxious odors, and other laboratory-related conditions may occur.
