Join us as a Scientist 2, Analytical Sciences at BioSpace

BioMarin is a global biotechnology company committed to translating genetic discoveries into innovative medicines that improve human health. Since 1997, we've focused on understanding genetic conditions to develop transformative treatments, leveraging our expertise in genetics and molecular biology.

Our Technical Operations team is responsible for manufacturing drugs for clinical trials and commercial use, ensuring quality and regulatory compliance across our processes and sites.

The Analytical Sciences team within the Technical Development & Services department is seeking a Scientist 2 to support method development and characterization of small molecules, oligos, and gene therapies for CMC development. The ideal candidate will be experienced in chromatography, spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry techniques, with strong scientific knowledge in protein chemistry and biochemistry, and hands-on experience with biologics and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute analytical methods for clinical and commercial programs.
  • Support method development, qualification, and transfer of spectroscopy techniques.
  • Manage interactions with CDMOs and troubleshoot analytical methods.
  • Analyze data, interpret results, and prepare protocols and reports.
  • Present findings and communicate with team members and stakeholders.
Required Skills
  • Understanding of protein/peptide, small molecule, or oligo chemistry.
  • Experience with chromatography and detectors (UV, FLD, CAD, light scattering).
  • Proficiency in mass spectrometry techniques.
  • Experience with spectroscopy methods (Raman, FTIR, IR, NMR).
  • Supportive of early and late-phase drug development.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of biopharmaceutical development.
  • Hands-on experience with chromatography and mass spectrometry.
Education

PhD in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or related field with 2-4 years of post-graduate experience, OR Master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience.

Additional Information

Reporting to the Sr. Scientist 1, Analytical Sciences, with potential supervision responsibilities.
