Job summary

Pace® Analytical Services in Peoria, IL, is seeking a Scientist 1 to join our environmental science team. This full-time, onsite role focuses on analyzing air, water, and soil samples using validated chemistry methods and maintaining high-quality laboratory records.

You will operate instruments such as GC, HPLC, and ICP, review results, and document procedures while working in a safety-conscious environment with provided PPE.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or other science related fields.
  • Ability to work effectively in a laboratory environment and wear PPE.

Responsibilities

  • Operate instruments such as GC, HPLC, ICP and more.
  • Analyze air, water, and soil samples using established chemistry and biochemistry methods looking for environmental contaminants.
  • Review and interpret the results from the sample analysis.
  • Accurately document procedures, observations, and results to maintain high-quality, organized laboratory records.
  • Clean, maintain, and calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment.

Job description

Shift: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, with occasional weekends.

This is a full-time, onsite, Scientist 1 position located in Peoria, IL, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Compensation: $17.00 per hour

The salary for this position reflects a variety of factors. Compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s geographic location, relevant experience, education, skills, and alignment with internal equity. Market conditions, budgetary considerations, and organizational compensation guidelines may also influence the final offer.

What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or other science related degrees — or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. We are happy to provide training!
  • Ability to work effectively in a laboratory environment, including standing for extended periods, working around strong odors, and wearing required PPE (lab coat, safety glasses, gloves—all provided by Pace®)

Working Environment

Work is performed in a lab and office setting. Work is subject to chemicals, fumes, gases, noxious odors, and related items in a lab and sample setting.
