Job summary

Mangrove Neuro is seeking a Scientist to lead validation of neural graft prototypes in rodent models. You will oversee the surgical, histological, and analytical pipelines, bridging the stem cell engineering team and pre-clinical milestones in a fast-paced, early-stage setting.

The role requires a PhD in neuroscience or related field with hands-on histology, immunostaining, and rodent brain surgery experience.

Qualifications

  • PhD in neuroscience, neurodevelopment, or related field; 0–2 years of relevant post-grad experience.
  • Hands-on histology, immunostaining, and fluorescence microscopy experience.
  • Rodent brain survival surgery experience.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, early-stage setting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform survival stereotaxic surgeries in rodents for graft preparation, tissue harvest, and transplantation.
  • Image grafts using confocal and widefield microscopy; quantify survival, integration, and phenotype.
  • Maintain detailed experimental records and contribute to study design and IND-enabling documentation.

Scientist – Cell Therapy and Neurodegeneration

The Company

Mangrove Neuro (LIC, NY) is a well-funded, fast-paced, early-stage biotech company using cell and tissue replacement therapies to treat neurodegeneration and brain trauma. We use a multifaceted approach to designing and testing our prototypes. As an early-stage team member, your data will directly drive our upcoming IND-enabling milestones

The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated, cross-functional Scientist to lead the validation of our neural graft prototypes in rodent models. You will oversee the end-to-end surgical, histological, and analytical pipelines, acting as a crucial bridge between our stem cell engineering team and pre-clinical milestones.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform survival stereotaxic surgical procedures in rodents, including graft preparation, tissue harvest, and transplantation.
  • Image grafts by confocal and widefield microscopy and quantify cell survival, integration, and phenotype
  • Maintain detailed experimental records and contribute to study design and IND-enabling documentation
Qualifications
Required
  • PhD with a background in neuroscience, neurodevelopment, stem cell biology, or related fields with 0-2 years of relevant post graduate experience (industry setting preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with histology, immunostaining, and fluorescence microscopy
  • Rodent brain survival surgery experience
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple experiments in a fast-paced, early-stage setting
Preferred
  • Experience using rodent stroke models and/or behavioral models
  • Hands on experience with rat models
  • Experience with hiPSC culture
  • Quantitative image analysis (Fiji/ImageJ, QuPath, or similar)
  • Familiarity with cell therapy development

Compensation: $110,000 – 135,000 based on experience with great health insurance and equity.
