Tutors will work one-on-one with students from grades K-12, providing tailored science instruction that develops understanding and confidence across various subjects, including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

Qualifications

What You’ll Do:

• Work one‑on‑one with students in grades K‑12 to provide focused science instruction at their level.
• Help students develop deeper conceptual understanding, not just memorize facts for the test.
• Build scientific reasoning, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
• Make abstract concepts concrete through clear explanations, real‑world connections, and structured practice.
• Identify and close gaps in foundational science knowledge that are holding students back.
• Align your sessions with each student's broader academic roadmap through SiSTEM's planning tools.
• Communicate with families on progress and strategy when appropriate.
• Maintain high standards of preparation and professionalism.

What We’re Looking For:

• 3+ years of teaching, tutoring, or academic mentoring experience in science.
• Deep expertise in at least one of the science subjects listed above.
• Experience working with motivated students in honors, Pre‑AP, AP, gifted, or test‑prep settings.
• A track record of helping students improve grades, build confidence, or master concepts they previously struggled with.
• Clear, patient communication and the ability to make science click for students who think they're "not a science person".
• Professional reliability.

Bonus: Current or former science teachers, scientists, engineers, medical professionals, or STEM researchers who tutor; educators with degrees in biology, chemistry, physics, or science education; tutors who have coached science fair or STEM competitions.
