Job summary

SST Schools in Texas seeks a dedicated Teacher to deliver engaging learning experiences and help students reach their potential in academic, emotional, and social growth.

You will plan lessons, create a productive classroom environment, assess progress, and communicate with students, families, and colleagues. A Bachelor's degree and meeting Texas 'highly qualified' standards are required for this full-time position. Normal work hours are 189 days per year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Meet Texas “highly qualified” standards.

Responsibilities

• Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Prepare lessons reflecting accommodations for individual differences.
• Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guide learning toward achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to the students.
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media appropriate to the location and student needs.
• Strive to implement the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals.
• Assess student progress and provide progress reports as required.
• Refer students for evaluation by district specialists as required.
• Maintain safety and protect students, equipment, and facilities.
• Maintain accurate records as required by law and policy.
• Assist administration in implementing policies governing student life and conduct.
• Develop reasonable classroom rules and maintain order.
• Make provisions to be available to students and parents for education-related purposes.
• Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers and evaluate their performance.
• Maintain and improve professional competence and participate in staff development.
• Attend staff meetings and serve on committees.
• Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues and communicate with students, parents, and the community.
