Job summary

Akron Public Schools seeks a Science Teacher 4-9 for the National Inventors Hall of Fame Middle School in Akron, OH. Position is 190 days; salary range is TBD. Extended time may be required before/after the school year with compensation at the extended time hourly rate.

Equity and ADA accommodations available as needed. Requires Ohio licensure for grades 4-9 in Science, PD participation, and collaboration with community partners to enrich curriculum and student products.

Qualifications

• Valid State of Ohio 4-9 licensure in Science;
• Must participate in Professional Development (PD);
• Engage community and business partners to be incorporated as a resource in curriculum development and student products.

Responsibilities

• Assist all students to meet or exceed state academic achievement standards;
• Articulate learning objectives for lessons and units;
• Plan and deliver learning experiences that advance each student’s learning;
• Design authentic learning experiences through collaboration, problem-based learning, inquiry, and curriculum integration;
• Partner with business and community organizations to create authentic learning experiences;
• Organize and plan learning based on subject matter, students, community, and curriculum goals;
• Provide intervention and remediation planning in math, science and literacy;
• Develop differentiated instructional strategies for each student’s growth;
• Use technology to develop content knowledge and critical thinking;
• Maintain accurate records and communicate progress;
• Collaborate with staff to improve instruction and learning;
• Use multiple communication methods with students, parents, staff, and partners;
• Contribute to public presentations and student success through positive relationships.
