Qualifications

• 2+ years of teaching experience as an Elementary Science Teacher.
• Must possess valid PA teaching certificate.
• Ability to obtain all necessary background clearances.

• Physical requirements: lift up to 15 lbs, climb stairs, stand or sit for up to 45 minutes.

Responsibilities

• Create standards-aligned lesson plans for K-5 classes.
• Provide whole group instruction in an inclusive learning environment.
• Manage and host the annual science fair.
• Provide small group instruction as needed.
• Collaborate with colleagues and administration on students' needs and progress.
• Consult with administration and provide guidance to teachers on science instruction.
• Attend professional development sessions, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
• Inventory, organize, maintain, distribute and order science materials as needed.
• Identify the educational needs of students and adapt instructional goals accordingly.
• Teach socially acceptable behavior, employing techniques such as behavior modification and positive reinforcement to maintain an orderly classroom culture.
• Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress.
• Administer standardized tests, and interpret results to determine strengths and needs.
• Collaborate with staff to develop innovative learning experiences.
• Manage and host the annual science fair.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• 2 + years teaching experience as an Elementary Science Teacher
• Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from an accredited college or university
• Must be able to obtain or currently have all background clearances (Federal, PA State, & Child Abuse)
• Valid PA teaching certificate
• Strong communication skills
• Physical requirements: in the event that the need arises, you will need to be able to lift, pull or push up to 15 lbs, walk a standard flight of stairs, or stand or sit for up to 45 minutes.
