The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for Science & Medicine Advisor (Temporary) in our National Center office located in Dallas, Texas (Remote/Home Based is acceptable).

This is a Part-Time position, and we are looking for someone to work a maximum of 10 hours per week, depending on workload.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing expert review of cardiovascular and stroke content to the American Heart Association science and medicine team.

Responsibilities
  • Provide consultation, guidance, and approval on science content to internal American Heart Association staff who develop and maintain public and professional programs, patient and lay publications, American Heart Association websites, press releases, marketing materials, and other public‑facing content with health and science implications.
  • Work with teams to help review content for American Heart Association professional websites and products.
  • Synthesize, analyze, and explain, as needed, (verbally and in written communication) to the lay public, professionals, and to internal American Heart Association staff, the current state of science and medicine and the implications these have for the Heart Association.
  • Maintains current cardiovascular and stroke knowledge on the state of the science and practice in these fields to ensure that the content reviewed is current and accurate.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience
  • RN/MD/NP/PA with clinical and educational experience in the cardiovascular, neuroscience or related fields
  • Adult education expertise
  • Outstanding writing & communication skills
  • Outstanding collaboration and group management skills
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple long and short‑term projects at one time.
  • Ability to understand, integrate, and summarize scientific literature.
  • Ability to provide independent review without any self‑or organizational bias
  • A good understanding of information on American Heart Association websites, including heart.org, Professional Heart Daily, American Heart Association journals, and Guidelines and Statements, as related to content being reviewed.
