Job summary

FedWriters, Inc. is seeking a Science Content & Digital Media Specialist to support NOAA's Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR).

You will embed at a NOAA laboratory or program, writing news stories, creating eye-catching graphics and videos, and shepherding content through rigorous review to ensure accuracy and on-brand messaging. You will translate complex atmospheric science for broad audiences, manage content across websites, social media, and print, and help shape content strategy with

Qualifications

BA/BS in a technical or communications field; advanced degrees may qualify for shorter experience.
4+ years of professional or academic experience in science communication or journalism.
Experience producing science/technical content for digital platforms.
Ability to translate complex research into audience-appropriate content and adapt across formats.

Responsibilities

Explain and organize complex scientific information into clear writing and editing for leadership and workforce.
Provide expert technical writing and editing for digital and print platforms, including news stories and social media.
Research, write, and edit audience-appropriate content for online, social, and print channels.
Develop themes, schedules, and content updates for external websites and social platforms.
Create visual graphics, videos, and other materials for NOAA platforms.
Monitor engagement analytics and apply insights to content strategy.
Coordinate with NOAA teams to showcase OAR missions and activities.
Advise OAR Communications Director on content strategy and innovations.
