FISHBIO is seeking a talented individual with fresh ideas who’s excited to transform our science communications into a tool that generates greater brand awareness, audience growth & engagement, and business opportunities. Your role will be crucial in translating complex scientific information into stories that inspire change, spark curiosity, and influence public perception of critical environmental issues.

Requirements / Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated excellence in writing and editing with a talent for storytelling.
  • Bachelor’s degree in fisheries or related field with strong foundation in science communication, or a degree in communications with a focus on fisheries, ecology, or similar fields.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in science communications and/or research.
  • Solid understanding of fisheries science, natural resource management, and conservation.
  • Proven success with public-facing media content and executing marketing and communication strategies with measurable outcomes.
  • Experience or knowledge of SEO and google analytics.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Spearhead our weekly newsletter, the Fish Report.
  • Craft, refine, and copyedit engaging public-facing content for target specific audiences including outreach and marketing materials.
  • Update WordPress website pages and ensure contents are accurate, engaging, and formatted correctly.
  • Develop and execute fresh and strategic communications plans.
  • Maintain a high standard of writing and editing and ensure cohesive messaging and effective execution of communication strategies across various platforms.
  • Assist in content development and support educational outreach initiatives as needed.
Location:

Chico, CA or Oakdale, CA; Potential for remote work in California. To be eligible for remote work, applicant must be within driving distance to the Chico and/or Oakdale office for trainings and fieldwork.

Salary
