Job summary

The UW–Madison College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, through its Life Sciences Communication department, seeks a Teaching Faculty I to develop, coordinate, and deliver instruction in science communication, digital media, and design. You will mentor graduate TAs, support students, and help maintain instructional materials and websites.

Qualifications

• Experience explaining and presenting complex scientific topics to students and non-technical audiences.
• Experience in digital and print media design on science-related content for broad public audiences.
• Prior teaching experience in higher education.
• Experience developing and delivering online or hybrid course instruction.
• PhD in Communication or relevant social science field is required.

Responsibilities

• Teach and coordinate multiple sections of LSC courses including supervision and mentoring of graduate teaching assistants.
• Teach upper-level courses in digital and print media design and web design for the sciences.
• Assess student learning and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Maintain course materials, instructional resources, and course websites.
• Support student success through mentoring, advising, and regular office hours.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and instructional teams to advance curriculum and instructional goals.
