Position Overview

In this role, the Skin Modelization Lead will drive the development and implementation of in vitro models to accelerate the innovation pipeline, ensuring scientific robustness while enhancing product differentiation.

Main Responsibilities
  • Translate in vitro findings into actionable product claims by optimizing experimental designs to meet consumer-relevant performance benchmarks.
  • Identify and integrate advanced in vitro and ex vivo models that enhance the predictive accuracy of ingredients, product efficacy and safety assessments.
  • Manage and oversee external partnerships to leverage cutting‑edge human skin cell culture models and tissue engineering approaches for product innovation.
  • Analyze and synthesize external research data to generate insights that inform new product development and formulation strategies.
  • Apply biomarker and mechanistic studies to substantiate claims and create next‑generation dermatological solutions with a competitive edge.
  • Monitor scientific and regulatory trends to anticipate industry shifts and ensure compliance while fostering innovation in skin metabolism and bioassays.
  • Select and validate bioactive ingredients based on their alignment with product positioning, efficacy targets, and consumer expectations.
  • Substantiate in vitro claims by screening biological properties of new active ingredients, ensuring their relevance to market needs.
  • Bridge scientific advancements with market‑driven innovation by transforming skin modeling insights into compelling product narratives and differentiated claims.
  • Contribute to intellectual property development by identifying patentable innovations and publishing findings that reinforce brand leadership.
Required Experience & Qualifications
  • Minimum 7‑10 years of experience in cosmetic development in the industry, with a background in Cell Biology, Bioengineering, or a related life science discipline in dermatology.
  • Solid experience in managing projects and knowledge of GLP.
  • Strong understanding of skin metabolism and cosmetic development process.
  • Experience with conventional and/or complex in vitro skin tissue culture models, including primary human skin cell cultures, co‑culture systems, 3D reconstituted human epidermis, and human skin organ cultures.
  • Ability to independently design, supervise, and analyze experiments with outsourced partners using molecular, cellular, and biochemical techniques focused on skin biology and tissue engineering applications.
  • Strong stakeholder‑influencing skills and a proven track record of working cross‑functionally and building collaborative relationships.
  • Experience in reporting, publishing, and presenting results (internal and external) and supporting scientific marketing.
  • Proficiency in English.
Education & Training
  • Minimum M.S. (Cell Biology/Life Sciences/Biosciences or equivalent) / M.Tech./M.Pharm./M.S. (Chemical Engineering/Biomedical Engineering) / PG – Biotechnology/Life‑Sciences.
Compensation & Benefits

The base salary range for this role is determined by various factors and is estimated at $160,000–$185,000. Additional compensation may include an annual short‑term incentive program based on corporate performance with a multiplier for individual performance. Baseline benefits include health insurance, a 401(k) plan with employer match, generous paid time off, hybrid work schedules, and more.
