ITA is seeking a Science and Innovation Manager to be a Thrust Leader for Energy, Environment and Sustainability joining the team in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership:

• Establish technical priorities and research strategies that align ITA’s environmentand sustainabilitycapabilities with federal agency priorities, emerging environmental challenges, and customer needs.
• Identifyemerging technologies, methodologies, analytical approaches, and scientific advances that can be incorporated into ITA’sprograms and service offerings.
• Translate scientific and technical advances into practical solutions, tools, methodologies, and capabilities that address client and mission requirements.
• Establish andmaintaincollaborations with federal agencies, universities, research institutions, industry partners, and other technical organizations to advance ITA’s research capabilities andidentifyopportunities for collaboration and funding.
• Publish and present technical findings, asappropriate, through peer-reviewed publications, technical reports, conferences, workshops, and professional forums to enhance ITA’s technical reputation and visibility.
• Foster a culture of scientific rigor, innovation, collaboration, and continuous technical advancement across ITA’s environmental science portfolio.

Customer Solutions:

• Lead efforts to expand environmentand sustainabilitybusiness opportunities and position ITA for sustained growth, with a primary focus on federal contracts, grants, research programs, and other government funding opportunities.

• Proactivelyidentify, research, and evaluate federal funding opportunities aligned with ITA’scapabilities, strategicobjectives, and growth priorities.

• Monitor federal agency priorities, strategic plans, funding forecasts, solicitations, and emerginginitiatives toidentifyand prioritize new business opportunities.

• Develop and execute capture strategies for high-priority federal opportunities, including identification of customer needs, competitive positioning, teaming strategies, and win themes.

• Developcompliant andcompellingproposals.
• Identifyand cultivate strategic relationships with federal agencies, program managers, academia, industry partners, and other organizations to expand ITA’s access to funding opportunities and strengthen competitive positioning.
• Represent ITA at federal agency meetings, environmental science conferences, technical workshops, industry events, and professional organizations toidentifyemerging requirements and funding opportunities.
• Monitor emerging environmental science technologies, research priorities, regulatory initiatives, and federal environmental programs toidentifyopportunities for new services and capabilities.
• Provide leadership and subject matterexpertisein positioning ITA for future growth, with a strong emphasis on proactive federal opportunity identification, capture, and proposal development.

Program Oversight and Management:

• Work closely with ITA’s leadership team and cross-functional divisions to oversee a diverse portfolio of environmentand sustainabilityprojects supporting federal, defense, state, academic, and other government clients.

• Provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, andin accordance withcontractual, technical, regulatory, and quality requirements.

• Lead effective project start-up, including development of project management plans, staffing strategies, schedules, budgets, risk-management approaches, and performance metrics.

• Ensure projects deliver measurable technical outcomes, mission impact, and value to clients whilemaintainingstrong cost control and fiscal accountability.

• Monitor project performance,identifyemerging risks andchallenges, and implement corrective actions tomaintainschedule, budget, scope, and qualityobjectives.

• Maintain proactive and constructive communication with clients, federal program managers, project partners, subcontractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Please note, candidates with significant leadership experience, broader organizational scope, or a track record of driving strategic initiatives may be considered for a Director level opportunity.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree inin Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Toxicology, Atmospheric Science, Materials Science, Public Health, or a closely related scientific or engineering discipline; PhD preferred.

• Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a laboratory environment.

• Experience managing technical teams on a variety of research projects.
• Experience growing business with a focus on consultative customer partnerships.
• Exhibitedtrack recordinacquiringfederal contracts and/or research funding; multi-million dollarfunding acquisition total is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated record oftechnical publications, conference presentations, research reports, or other contributionsto the environmental science field is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with executive leadership, business development, technical staff, and program managers to aligntechnical strategy, funding strategy, and organizational growthobjectives.

Pay range for this position is $100,000 - $136,000 annually.

This position has a broad compensation range due to the complexities of government contracting, including contract pricing, labor category requirements, funding parameters, and varying levels of candidate experience and qualifications.
