Position Details

Adjunct instructors are hired on a semester‑by‑semester basis to teach specific courses based on enrollment needs and institutional requirements. Teaching assignments typically range from one to three courses per semester and may include daytime, evening, or online course sections.

• Master's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Physiology, Medical Sciences, or a related science field from an accredited institution; doctoral degree preferred
• At least 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline or a closely‑related field required for instruction at the undergraduate level
• Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: general biology, anatomy and physiology, chemistry, physics, microbiology, or health sciences
• Professionals with significant practical experience in scientific or healthcare fields are encouraged to apply
• Strong communication skills and ability to engage students effectively in both lecture and laboratory settings

Primary Responsibilities

• Teach assigned undergraduate science courses in accordance with approved syllabi and course learning outcomes
• Prepare engaging lectures, laboratories, demonstrations, and learning activities that promote student comprehension and application of scientific concepts
• Design and administer assessments that accurately measure student learning and provide meaningful feedback
• Submit grades and maintain accurate records in accordance with university policies and deadlines
• Support the mission of Nelson University by demonstrating Christian values and integrating faith perspectives into course content where appropriate
