Job summary

Wichita Public Schools is seeking an Accompanist for the 2026-2027 school year to support vocal music teachers. The position involves accompanying musical groups at school and district concerts, festivals, and performances, with 15 to 29.5 hours per week.

The role requires strong piano skills, sight-reading, and the ability to work as part of a vocal music leadership team. Travel between campuses may be limited, and basic office equipment may be used.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Collegiate experience in piano performance and music education preferred.
• Excellent piano skills across styles.
• Able to work as part of a vocal music leadership team.
• Able to sight read at the piano proficiently.

Responsibilities

• Assists Director when needed in rehearsals for small and large groups.
• Evaluates and provides feedback to director and students on rehearsals and performances.
• Assists in vocal auditions, solo preparation, and small group rehearsals.
• Records accompaniments and vocal parts.
• Accompanies rehearsals and performances, including concerts and festivals.
