Job summary

Santa Clara Unified School District is seeking a qualified School Bus Driver Instructor to support the transportation department. Under the Manager of Transportation, you will implement policies, plan routes and driver schedules, and ensure safe, compliant service for daily operations.

You will train new drivers, provide renewal training, create safety programs, and maintain required records. The role requires a high school diploma, five years of bus driving, and a CDL B with passenger

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Five years of school bus driving experience; supervisory bus operations experience preferred.
• Completion of California Department of Education School Bus Driver Instructor Program.
• Office experience with computers, typing and record keeping.
• No moving violations or chargeable accidents within the past 3 years.
• Possession of CDL Class B with passenger endorsement and SB Driver Instructor Certificate with medical certificate.
• Willingness to participate in DOT random drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Implement policies and procedures for the school transportation department.
• Prepare routes and driver schedules to meet daily district needs.
• Reassign scheduled service to fit daily requirements with available resources.
• Train new school bus driver candidates; provide renewal training.
• Create and present safety awareness training programs for staff.
• Maintain and report daily payroll records and other required records.
