Job summary

Douglas County School System seeks a Transportation Assistant to support the Director of Transportation in delivering safe and efficient pupil transport. Requires a high school diploma or GED with two years of college preferred and Georgia CDL (P/S endorsement) or ability to obtain it during training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required. Two years of college preferred.
• Georgia CDL (P and S Endorsement) or must be obtained at first training opportunity.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
• Operates computerized transportation system (EDULOG).
• Assist in troubleshooting Here Comes the Bus issues.
• Maintains maps, route sheets, and route schedules for the assigned area and ensures they are up to date and is familiar with the road network in Douglas County.
• Supervises and evaluates assigned bus drivers and bus monitors.
• Assists in maintaining ridership counts and assures that other transportation data is up to date.
• Assists in compiling and maintaining regular ed routes.
• Works with drivers, local schools, and the public to resolve transportation service and bus conduct-related problems.
• Participates/leads in-service training to maintain and upgrade skills.
• Responds to emergencies as they arise and is "on call" 24 hours.
• Participates in accident evaluation and documentation preparation.
• Responsible for assuring regular and special education route coverage, assigning substitute drivers when necessary, and making route adjustments to meet service demands.
• Performs other duties assigned by the director.
