Job summary

Cross Country Education is seeking a School Social Worker for Reading, PA to support elementary students in grades 3-5 with behavioral, emotional, and social needs during the 2026-2027 school year. You will collaborate with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to help students navigate challenges and succeed.

Responsibilities include delivering counseling, crisis support, and case management, while maintaining clear documentation and communicating progress.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) or related qualifying field.
  • Valid PDE Certification in School Social Work, School Counseling, or as a School-Based Licensed Professional Counselor.
  • Experience supporting elementary students in grades 3-5 with behavioral, emotional, social, or mental health needs; experience in a structured intervention program preferred.

Position Overview
  • Deliver counseling, social-emotional support, and behavioral interventions to elementary students in grades 3-5 with a range of behavioral, emotional, social, and mental health needs.
  • Provide crisis support, behavior intervention, and case management services to promote student well-being and success.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education teams, families, and outside service providers to coordinate individualized student support.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and communicate student needs, progress, and support strategies with relevant team members.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) or related qualifying field
  • Valid Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) Certification inSchool Social Work, School Counseling, or as a School-Based Licensed Professional Counselor
  • Experience supporting elementary students in grades 3-5, particularly those with behavioral, emotional, social, and/or mental health needs; experience in a structured intervention program preferred
