Amergis is seeking Educational Sign Language Interpreters for two in-person roles in Tempe, AZ. The positions run Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, with start dates ASAP.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in American Sign Language
• Associates degree or Bachelors degree in interpreting, deaf studies or related field (preferred)
• State Board of Education Initial Sign Language Interpreter Certificate (as applicable)
• Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) certificate (as applicable)
• RID certification (as applicable)
• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
• Current CPR if applicable
• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
• Must be at least 18 years of age

Job description

The Educational Sign Language Interpreter is a trained professional who facilities communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and others within an educational setting. Often, American Sign Language (ASL) is used to interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa, which ensures students have accommodations to classroom instruction, activities and learning discussions.
