Job summary

DK Security is seeking a Security Officer for a seasonal full-time role in Michigan. The position emphasizes customer service, post guarding, and patrol duties to ensure safety for client properties.

Officers will monitor entrances, verify IDs, and respond to incidents. The role requires de-escalation skills, reliability, and the ability to work 8–12 hour shifts, indoors or outdoors, in all seasons.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to pass a drug screening at hire and on a random basis.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license if operating company or client vehicles.
• Must be able to move quickly and stay alert during 8–12 hour shifts.

Job Skills / Requirements

Experience working with school aged children is highly preferred.

• Shift Opening(s): Mid Shift (1300-2100) Mon-Fri.
• Rate of Pay: $21.22/hr
• This is a seasonal full-time position. Summer break from June through August.
• This is NOT an armed security position. Weapons are not permitted on the premises, including in personal vehicles parked on the premises.

About the Job:

As a Security Officer at DK Security, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of our clients' properties. Security officer duties include the following:

• Must provide exceptional customer service.
• Guard posts at the entry / exit points of the client buildings and grounds.
• Conduct foot and/or vehicle patrols of the interior and exterior of the grounds to ensure a safe and secure environment.
• Ensure unauthorized persons do not enter restricted areas.
• Check for employee, vendor, and visitor identifications.
• Look for suspicious people, packages, and activities.
• Must follow site specific post guidelines.
• Document daily activities and report all incidents.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and have at least a high school diploma or equivalent education certification, such as a GED, per MCL 338.1067
• 17(2).
• Must not have been convicted of any felonies, per MCL 338.1060
• 10(1)(c).
• Must not have been convicted of any misdemeanors related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, unauthorized sale of information or evidence, controlled substances (including for marijuana), or two or more alcohol related offenses, per MCL 338.1060
• 10(1)(c).
• Must be able to pass a drug screening at the time of hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana).
• Must adhere to our company’s Uniform and Appearance policy and present a friendly, positive, and professional image.
• Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to de-escalate situations in a non-confrontational manner. This includes the ability to fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• If driving company or client vehicles, or if using your own vehicle for work activities, must possess a valid State of Michigan driver’s license and have a clean driving record with less than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years, less than 2 at-fault accidents in the last 3 years, and no other major violations in the last 3 years.
• Must be willing to become CPR/First Aid/AED certified and be capable of administering this care in emergency situations.
• Must be able to move quickly, including running short distances, to respond in emergency situations.
• Must be physically and mentally sound and able to always remain alert while on duty.
• Must be able to sit, stand, move quickly to respond to emergencies, and walk long distances, including navigating stairs, for the duration of the shift (8-12 hours).
• Must be able to work indoors or outdoors during all seasons.
• Must be able to use hands and fingers to manipulate keys, tools, and other equipment.
• Must be able to hear conversations (in person or via 2-way radio) in noisy environments.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision.
