Job summary

Omaha Public Schools in Omaha, NE is seeking a Security Officer to support student safety during the 10-month, 40-hour week schedule. Starting immediately at $22.39 per hour, with 196 school days per year.

Responsibilities include patrolling, supervising, handling emergencies, and enforcing building access; requires a high school diploma and security experience; familiarity with MS Office.

Qualifications

• Hold a high school diploma or equivalency.
• Experience in security related work or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Law enforcement experience preferred.
• Possess knowledge of standard security procedures and best practices in school security.
• Must have basic computer skills using Microsoft Office programs.

Responsibilities

• Patrols and monitor hallways, stairwells, toilet facilities, outside facilities, and other public and unsupervised places of the school to ensure safety and security.
• Assist with student supervision and orderly movement of students through hallways and during arrival/dismissal.
• Notify administration and emergency personnel of any emergency or unusual situations.
• Assist with crisis and emergency situations and with fire drills and evacuations.
• Manage access control and escort unauthorized visitors to exits.
