Job summary

Thomson Middle School in Centerville, GA is seeking a School Security Guard to monitor facilities, manage entry and respond to safety concerns. The role reports to the Principal and supports a safe, orderly environment with trained screening and communication duties.

The candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, and NASRO School Safety Officer certification within one year. Experience in law enforcement or military service is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED; law enforcement or armed services preferred.
• Certificate or License: NASRO School Safety Officer Course must be completed within first year.

Responsibilities

• Operates weapons detectors, screening devices, radios, security monitoring equipment after training.
• Interacts professionally with students, staff, parents, visitors and the public.
• Controls entry and screens students/visitors per procedures.
• Reports hazards, incidents and safety concerns to leadership.
• Responds to incidents per district policies and procedures.
• Maintains awareness of emergency procedures and drills.
• Works with law enforcement and school resource officers as needed.
• Communicates via approved devices with staff and administrators.
• Completes paperwork accurately and promptly.
• Participates in required training.
