Job summary

West Bolivar Consolidated School District is seeking a School Safety Officer (SRO) to support the safety and welfare of students on campus. The role includes enforcing district rules, coordinating with law enforcement and community agencies, and responding to incidents to maintain a secure school environment.

Starting immediately, the officer will monitor activities, conduct drills, and document incidents while collaborating with the School Safety Officer Supervisor for guidance and direction.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years experience working with youth and adults in an organized setting with School Safety, law enforcement, or security work preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collates information and coordinates with community agencies to address safety and security concerns.
• Communicates safety policies to students, staff and visitors to ensure understanding and compliance.
• Conducts fire drills, lockdowns, and other emergency drills per guidelines.
• Escorts students, staff, and visitors to maintain safety and provide site security.
• Maintains schedules and incident/ drill records for audit and policy compliance.
• Monitors student behavior to ensure a safe learning environment and secure facilities.
• Patrols facilities to deter criminal activity and maintain visibility.
• Prepares incident reports and referrals for follow-up actions.
• Manages traffic and parking to ensure smooth circulation on campus.
• Responds to incidents and inquiries from students and parents regarding campus security.
