Job summary

CITY OF GEORGETOWN in Kentucky seeks a full-time School Safety Officer to patrol school properties, assist staff, and help maintain secure learning environments across campuses.

This role requires a retired certified police officer, a high school diploma or GED, and a valid Kentucky driver’s license; you must be able to respond to emergencies, document incidents, and coordinate with district personnel.

Qualifications

• Certified by Kentucky Peace Officers Professional Standards.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Kentucky driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Patrols school properties in the district.
• Assist staff to prevent or respond to student unrest.
• Make referrals to community agencies aiding youth and families.
• Assist the principal in planning to prevent dangerous situations.
• Exercise discretion as a sworn peace officer and take action as needed.
• Protect against intruders at the school and related functions.
• Participate in school functions to maintain safety.
• Provide testimony at hearings when requested.
• Coordinate and present training to staff and students.
• Work at sporting events for middle/high schools; events for elementary schools.
