Montgomery-Public-Schools is seeking a School Psychometrist to administer psychological tests across schools within a 12-month schedule. The role supports the Special Education Department by coordinating test administration, reporting results, and assisting with eligibility determinations for IEP teams.

The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s degree in School Psychology or related fields, maintain current Alabama certification, and have experience in psycho-educational assessments.

  • Minimum 3 years teaching experience.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in psycho-educational assessments.
  • Experience in special education preferred.
  • Typing, word processing, spreadsheets and databases expected.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and administers psychological tests using paper-and-pencil or equipment-based formats.
  • Explains testing procedures to subjects and ensures protocol adherence.
  • Monitors tests and notifies director of any validity/timeline issues.
  • Assists in research and data reporting for psychometric studies.
  • Aids in evaluations for eligibility determinations and IEP processes.
  • Coordinates test scheduling and reporting of results within departments.
  • Maintain records and order testing supplies as needed.
  • Interprets tests and advises case manager on retesting needs and programming.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepares and administers psychological and/or neuropsychological testing in various formats, to include paper and pencil test or tests requiring testing equipment, such as picture tests, iPads, and dexterity boards, under standard conditions.
  • Explains testing procedures and objectives to subjects and works with subjects to facilitate compliance with protocol and procedures to ensure appropriate test completion.
  • Times tests and records results; identifies extraordinary test results, and immediately notifies the director of any issues related to test validity, timelines and inability to successfully complete evaluations of students within timeline.
  • Assists in research through the systematic collection, preliminary analysis, and reporting of psychometric research data, using standard protocol.
  • Assists school personnel in administering and completing evaluations and any other assessments required to determine eligibility for students or collection of data for IEP team purposes as appropriate.
  • Coordinates and communicates appointment times and venues for the testing of individuals or subject groups as well as the follow-up reporting of results via special education processes.
  • Maintains records of testing supplies, instruments, and equipment on hand and orders replacement stock as necessary.
  • Performs basic interpretation of standardized tests of psychological functioning, as appropriate, and makes recommendations to the attending case manager regarding the need for retesting or additional testing as well as programming.
  • Ensures confidentiality of test results and recommendations; maintains security of testing materials.
  • Complies with all IDEA mandated timelines for all testing with special priority given for individuals involved in due process cases.
  • Follows through with accountability processes and procedures as indicated by the special education department and Curriculum and Instruction Department.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.

Qualifications

Master's Degree in Guidance and Counseling, School Psychology, Educational Psychology or Special Education.

  • Current valid Alabama Teacher’s Certificate
  • Certification in School Psychometry from a State Approved program. Certification must meet ALSDE requirements.
  • Minimum of 3 years teaching experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in administering psycho-educational assessments, including individual intelligence tests, educational inventories, diagnostic instruments, and specialized testing experience for specific handicapping conditions.
  • Training and experience in the field of special education is preferred.
  • Typing skills and familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, and database.
  • Other tasks may be deemed appropriate and necessary by the immediate supervisor, department director, and/or the Superintendent.
