Qualifications

• Must hold current CT certification in School Psychology (070).
• Masters degree preferred.
• Experience with the PPT process and special education laws is required.

Responsibilities

• Understands special education and Section 504 laws and procedures as well as the PPT process.
• Maintains ongoing communication and collaboration with students, families and community professionals.
• Collaborates with staff to conduct FBA and BIP for students; Collects and analyzes data to determine the effectiveness of the BIP.
• Evaluates behavior based on clinical observations, interviews with students, teachers, other staff and parents, reports from other professionals, and review of records and test results.
• Analyzes psycho-educational strengths and needs of the individual child and provides educational, vocational and personal recommendations.
• Provides individual and small group counseling sessions.
• Interprets findings to teachers to assist them in working effectively with students to strengthen academic progress.
• Advises and counsels parents to facilitate educational progress of their children.
• Plans and implements non-biased assessment practices; develops counseling goals based on student needs.
• Maintains appropriate records of service provision and participates in team meetings as required.
• Regularly uses technology to assist in job responsibilities and meeting school and district goals.
