Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and NYS Certification in School Psychology.
  • Knowledge of assessment tools, special education laws, and evidence-based intervention practices.
  • Experience working in a K–12 educational setting.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for working with children.
  • Training in crisis intervention or restorative practices preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological and educational evaluations to identify learning, behavioral, and emotional needs.
  • Participate in development and review of IEPs.
  • Interpret assessment data and communicate results to families and teams.
  • Provide individual and group counseling aligned with IEPs and general education support.
  • Develop and implement behavioral, academic, and mental health interventions.
  • Support crisis prevention and response, including risk assessments and safety planning.
  • Partner with teachers, administrators, and parents to improve student learning and well-being.
  • Provide recommendations for classroom strategies and instructional modifications.
  • Participate in Student Support Teams, RTI, and other collaborative problem-solving structures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation per district policies and laws (IDEA, Section 504, FERPA).
  • Assist in monitoring IEP services and outcomes.
  • Contribute to school-wide initiatives for positive climate and social-emotional learning.
  • Provide staff development on behavior management, mental health, and trauma-informed practices.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and collaboration with staff.
