Job summary

Ayer Shirley Regional School District in Ayer, MA is seeking a School Psychologist to support students’ intellectual, social, and emotional development. The role involves evaluating eligibility for special education, conducting assessments, and collaborating with staff, families, and outside agencies.

You will participate on IEP teams, develop goals, monitor progress, deliver social-emotional instruction and counseling, and assist with behavior plans and prevention programs.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an approved program in school psychology.
• Licensed by the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a School Psychologist.
• Experience with students with ASD and ID and social skills programs.
• Experience in a culturally diverse public school setting.

Responsibilities

• Administer and interpret cognitive and other evaluations for eligibility for special education and reevaluations.
• Use instruments and techniques including report writing, data analysis, and dissemination of results.
• Review student records for screening and evaluation of current and new students.
• Collaborate with staff, parents and outside agencies to meet student needs.
• Participate on IEP teams and other school-based teams (e.g., crisis support, MTSS, PBIS, SEL).
• Write IEP goals, monitor progress, and prepare progress reports.
• Develop cognitive and academic goals and interventions for students with varying abilities.
• Provide social-emotional lessons and individual counseling as needed per IEP goals.
• Deliver direct services (counseling, crisis interventions, mentoring) as appropriate.
• Contribute to behavioral interventions and plans with teachers and families.

Education

Master’s degree in School Psychology

Licensed by the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a School Psychologist

Experience with ASD and ID including social skills instruction

Experience in a culturally diverse public school setting
