This is a full-time 11 month position.

Pay Grade: Professional

FLSA Status: Exempt

JOB GOALS:

To meet state certification requirements for this position through attainment of a Pupil Personnel License with an endorsement as School Psychologist.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Tailors and administers psychoeducational evaluations with respect to those unique concerns of each presenting case. This encompasses a diverse population ranging in age from 2 to 21. Typically considered are: cognitive abilities; learning style; core achievement; developmental level; adaptive behavior; emotional status; behavioral traits; and psychological processing. These evaluations may entail classroom observations or visits to the home;
  • Formulates a comprehensive report outlining testing results, interpretations, and recommendations, as required by federal and state guidelines;
  • Interprets evaluation results to eligibility teams and assist them with educational programming as requested;
  • Assists teachers and administrators in the development of specifically tailored behavioral plans or other forms of intervention when disciplinary problems arise, as dictated by the regulations and as deemed necessary by the educational teams;
  • Responds to crisis such as suicide threat assessment and response. This may include home visits and accompaniment to mental health facilities;
  • Continues required training education hours dictated by DOE, NASP, and the Board of Psychology;
  • Participates in the following team meetings: Eligibility and others as requested and beneficial to the student; and
  • Performs other work-related tasks as assigned by administration.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • State certification through attainment of a Pupil Personnel License with an endorsement as School Psychologist.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This job may require lifting of objects that exceed 25 lbs., with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs. Other physical demands that may be required include stooping and/or kneeling, reaching, talking, hearing, and seeing.
