Job summary

You will assist with inventory, maintain records, interact with students and staff, and adapt to a busy, cafeteria environment. The position requires reliability, physical stamina, and the ability to work in warm kitchens.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in school food service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing food by following a recipe.
• Assist in setting up service areas, portioning, and serving food items.
• Assist with cleaning and storing kitchen equipment and floors/tables.
• Use kitchen equipment and report needed maintenance.
• Help control food costs with proper storage and rotation.
• Understand and practice good nutrition in preparation and service.
• Maintain sanitation, safety, production, service, and food quality standards.
• Communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
• Supervise food service personnel in the area.
• Assist manager in preparing orders for food and supplies.
• Maintain positive relations with students, parents, faculty, and community.
• Plan workload, forecast requirements, and coordinate production.
• Complete and maintain food production records.
• Ensure appealing food presentation for customers.
• Assist with production and service of catered events.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
