Job summary

Liberty STEAM Charter School is seeking a Food Services Assistant to support meal preparation, service, and daily kitchen operations in a school setting. The role focuses on safe food handling, inventory management, and compliance with Child Nutrition Program requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or GED, be 18+, and bring prior food service or school nutrition experience. Candidates must pass background screenings and be authorized to work in the United States.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior experience in food service, meal preparation, custodial services, or commercial kitchen operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing nutritious breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and special event meals.
• Prepare portions meeting USDA Child Nutrition Program (CNP) requirements.
• Assist with meal service to scholars and staff with timely, courteous service.
• Ensure food safety, sanitation, and proper storage of food and supplies.
• Monitor temperatures during preparation, holding, and serving.
• Maintain daily inventory and assist with food ordering and FIFO rotation.
