Job summary

The Nassau BOCES is seeking a Substitute Registered Professional Nurse to provide professional nursing services across multiple schools, maintain health records, and respond to health emergencies.

The position involves screening, first aid, immunization clinic support, and coordinating transportation for ill students, with supervision of clerical assistants as needed. A NYS RN license eligibility is required, with licensure at appointment.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of nursing approved by the State Education Department.
• Eligibility for a New York State Registered Professional Nurse license at time of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the School Physician with physical, visual, and auditory screenings.
• Administer first aid and emergency treatment to students and staff.
• Maintain health records for school authorities.
• Assist at school immunization clinics.
• Arrange transportation for ill or injured individuals in emergencies.
• Inspect safety and sanitary conditions of school facilities.
• Manage storage and inventory of health supplies.
