Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a dedicated Substitute School Nurse to provide temporary nursing support within our educational environment. The role focuses on student health, safety, and a positive atmosphere, requiring flexibility, strong communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced setting.

The RN or LPN license must be valid for the state of employment, with CPR/First Aid certification and prior school or pediatric nursing experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Valid RN or LPN license in the state of employment.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Experience in a school setting or pediatric nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide first aid and emergency care to students and staff as needed.
• Assess and monitor student health, including administering medications and managing chronic health conditions.
• Maintain accurate health records and documentation in compliance with school policies and state regulations.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding health issues and concerns.
• Collaborate with teachers and administrators to promote health education and wellness initiatives within the school.
• Participate in the development and implementation of health policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including infection control measures.
• Assist in the management of health screenings and immunization requirements.
• Provide support for students with special healthcare needs and coordinate with external healthcare providers as necessary.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities as required.
