Job summary

Boston Public Schools at the O'Bryant School of Math & Science in Boston, MA seeks a long-term substitute School Nurse to provide comprehensive health services for students through the school year. The incumbent will manage emergencies, administer medications, conduct health screenings, and develop medical summaries with collaborative support from the health team.

Required are a BSN, MA RN license, School Nurse license, CPR/First Aid, and authorization to work in the United States by day one.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
• Massachusetts license as a Registered Nurse.
• MA State Dept. of Education School Nurse License (All Levels).
• CPR & First Aid Certification.
• Ability to meet the BPS Standards of Effective Practice as outlined above.
• Experience working with children and adolescents in public school/agency/human services setting.
• Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.

Responsibilities

• Participates in Service Team Meetings of students when medical input, interpretation, or consultation is needed.
• Establishes and maintains appropriate record-keeping and reporting formats and procedures.
• Conducts formal workshops and/or informal training for staff as appropriate.
• Maintains adequate and updated health records.
• Serves as medical representative to evaluations and re-evaluations, obtains and interprets medical evaluation at these meetings.

THIS IS A LONG-TERM SUB POSITION that is expected to start on03/26/2026 and endof the school year. Please note that all substitute teachers are hired as per diem subs, even when placed in long-term assignments. All substitutes begin at the per diem rate of pay.
