Jemez Mountain School District 53 is seeking a School Nurse or Health Assistant for District Wide locations in Gallina, New Mexico. Immediate start. 168 work days per year. Reports to the Building Principal.

Responsibilities include providing basic first aid, dispensing prescribed medications under supervision, maintaining health records and confidentiality, supporting health screenings, accompanying students to hospital when needed, and coordinating with parents and community agencies.

Formación

• Must pass a background check.
• Current CPR certification.
• First Aid training.
• Experience in health field and with children preferred.
• Knowledge of Universal Hygiene Precautions.
• NM RN license (or compact license) and Level 3 School Nurse licensure or able to obtain within 90 days.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Alumni may be considered for alternatives as approved by Superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications

• Must Pass a background check


• Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university;


• Valid New Mexico Board of Nursing Registered Nurse License, issued by the New Mexico Board of Nursing or, a compact registered nursing license from another state according to New Mexico Nursing Board rule; and


• Current New Mexico Public Education Department License as a Level 3 School Nurse, or ability to obtain proper licensure within 90 days of hire.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)


• Current CPR certification


• Must Pass a Background Check


• First Aid training


• Experience in the health field and with children preferred


• Knowledge of Universal Hygiene Precautions


• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 168 Work Days

To provide for the immediate needs of the students and to work under the supervision of the school nurses to see that medical aid is provided when necessary, and to see that health records are kept.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Other duties as assigned by the school nurse and/or principal.
