Job summary

Seymour Community Schools in Georgia is seeking a Food Service worker to prepare and serve nutritious meals in a friendly, student-centered environment. This 180-day school-year position involves following recipes to meet USDA meal patterns, maintaining sanitation, and serving meals during scheduled lunch periods.

You will help with receiving and storage of deliveries, record quantities, and assist with daily HACCP compliance.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and recipes.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers, coworkers, supervisors via written and verbal correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • Ability to apply general concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community.
  • Ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and serves food in an efficient manner, testing food to assure quality and taste before serving.
  • Follows assigned recipes and menus so that food served meet USDA meal pattern and nutrient requirements.
  • Ensures food is replenished regularly during meal service periods.
  • Serves menu items according to defined portion sizes.
  • Accurately counts and records quantities of food prepared and leftover.
  • Properly cools, stores, and/or disposes of unused or leftover food items.
  • Assists with receiving and storage of deliveries.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
