The MSD Decatur Township Child Nutrition Department is hiring dedicated individuals to assist in preparing and serving quality meals to Decatur Township students in a fast and friendly manner. Join our team to help feed the minds of our students and prepare them for tomorrow!

Starting wage is $13.50–$16.00 per hour; hired as a Substitute to allow placement at the best fit and location. Schedule follows the school calendar with benefits like paid sick days and on-the-job training.

Qualifications

• Foodservice experience preferred but is not required.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Approved background check.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with students, parents, school administrators, staff, and public/private agencies.
• Access to reliable transportation during working hours.
• Organized and detail-oriented.
• Ability to take direction from Leadership and works well in a team environment.
• Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Arranges food and beverage items in a serving line for the purpose of serving them to students and staff in an efficient manner.
• Collects payments for food items from students and staff (e.g. cash, ID scan, etc.) for the purpose of completing transactions and/or securing funds for food selection.
• Inventories food, condiments, and supplies for the purpose of ensuring the availability of items required for meeting projected menu requirements.
• Maintains equipment, storage, food preparation, and serving areas in a sanitary condition (e.g. cleaning and sanitizing steam tables, trays, counters, pots, pans, utensils, etc.) for the purpose of complying with current health standards and ensuring the safety of prepared foods.
• Maintains stockroom (e.g. placing food and supply orders where they belong) for the purpose of ensuring a clean and safe work area.
• Prepares and serves food and beverage items for the purpose of meeting mandated nutritional and projected meal requirements.
• Cross-trained as a cashier to help maintain accurate records and comply with established policies and/or procedures.
• Reports equipment malfunctions or concerns to the Manager.
• Support student workers in their jobs for the purpose of ensuring an efficient, safe, and sanitary work environment.
• Perform basic math, including calculations, percents, and ratios.
• All other duties as assigned by Leadership Team.
