Job summary

Haledon Board of Education is seeking a Lunch Aide to assist in maintaining a safe, orderly environment in the cafeteria and on the playground during mealtime and playtime. The role supports teachers by supervising students, helping with meal processes, and ensuring cleanliness and safety in assigned areas.

Ideal candidates will have strong verbal and written communication skills, good organizational abilities, and a willingness to work collaboratively with staff.

Qualifications

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Effective organizational and problem solving skills.
• Bilingual oral skills (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality about students per laws and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising students in the cafeteria during mealtime.
• Help ensure tables and surrounding areas are clean.
• Supervise playground/classroom during lunch hour.
• Assist with food purchases, distribution, disposal, and return of trays.
• Ensure students stay seated in assigned areas.
• Circulate among tables to assist as needed.
• Organize groups for orderly dismissal from cafeteria.
• Report infractions or safety concerns to staff as appropriate.
