Job summary

Connecticut Technical Education and Career System – Vinal Technical High School in Middletown, CT is hiring an Assistant Cook to support large-scale meal preparation for students.

You will assist with preparing a variety of foods, maintain a clean and safe kitchen, handle receiving and storing deliveries, and help with meal service. The role offers valuable experience in a school environment and a full-time, 10-month schedule.

Qualifications

• Experience and training providing the listed knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• ServSafe Certification or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
• Experience in preparation and serving of complete daily meals in large-scale settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares soups, salads, meats, vegetables, desserts, beverages and other menu items.
• Cleans and sanitizes kitchen equipment, utensils, dishes, and work areas.
• Operates kitchen machines and equipment.
• Receives and stores food deliveries.
• Assists with meal service and packaging.
• Maintains production records and assists in absence of the Cook.
• Supports large-scale food preparation in a school environment.
