Job summary

The Fayette County Board of Education seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide school health services to students and act as a liaison between the school, medical community, and related agencies. The LPN will carry out nursing procedures, manage student health plans, and collaborate with the head nurse, teachers, and families to support students' health and educational success.

This nine-month, non-exempt position requires Alabama licensure, current CPR/AED/First Aid, a valid Alabama driver's

Qualifications

Current license to practice as a licensed practical nurse from the Alabama Board of Nursing.
Ability to attend required professional development to renew nursing license in school health fields.
Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.
Experience working with school-age population.
Proficient organizational and goal-setting skills.
Valid Alabama driver’s license.
Ability to communicate accurately with students, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities

Carries out Fayette County School health program in assigned schools.
Detects and assesses student health problems with expertise.
Consults with health professionals or refers to others when needed.
Meet suitability criteria under Alabama law for employment and licensure.
Promotes health and prevention of illness using nursing process.
Provide nursing services including medication administration as prescribed by physician.
