Job summary

Savannah-Chatham County Public School System is seeking a School Nurse (Pool) to oversee the health services in its schools. The nurse will manage the health room, conduct screenings, and coordinate care with families and community resources.

Requires graduation from an accredited nursing program, a valid Georgia nursing license, BLS/CPR certification, and pediatric health experience. 200 work days, salary via the approved schedule, and duties at multiple locations within Savannah area.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Valid Georgia nursing license.
• AHA or Red Cross BLS with hands on skill assessment.
• CPR certification (current).
• Pediatric experience preferred.
• Experience in providing health instruction.

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing care for sudden illness or injury by opening the school health room.
• Conducts mass screenings and other appraisal activities to assess the health status of students.
• Promotes communicable disease control through exclusion/readmission authorization of students having a contagious disease or condition.
• Assists students to achieve optimal levels of wellness through individual instruction.
• Works with parents, care providers, & community resources to meet students' health needs.
• Reviews and assesses student immunization records for required vaccinations.
