Job summary

Orange Public Schools seeks a Guidance Counselor to provide developmental guidance and counseling across educational and career planning, social and emotional development, and advocacy for students. Work with staff and families to arrange resources and support for student growth and success.

The role supports understanding students' strengths, needs, and setting future educational and career paths, per outlined district plans and standards.

Job Description/Summary:
Assumes professional responsibility for providing comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling services in the areas of educational and career planning, and social and emotional development so that each student develops the skills, attitudes, and knowledge to meet and exceed the State Core Curriculum Content Standards. Working collaboratively with other members of the school staff and with parents, the Guidance Counselor acts as an advocate for the student, arranging for appropriate resources when necessary, and assisting students in understanding the school and its environment, understanding themselves and their relationships with others, understanding their strengths and needs, and planning for future educational and career opportunities.

Salary:

• As per negotiated salary guide
• Commensurate with education and experience

Starting salary begins at $73,829.00

Compensation package includes the following benefits:

• New Jersey pension enrollment for retirement (TPAF/PERS/DCRP)
• Eligibility for health, vision and dental coverage, 403(b) plan, and flexible spending accounts, all subject to plan terms
• Paid time off (PTO) earned on an accrual basis as per negotiated Collective Bargaining Agreement
