Job summary

Davenport Community Schools District is seeking a Food and Nutrition Services Van Driver for a 7.5-hour day, 190 days per school year, reporting to the District’s Food Service team in Davenport, IA. The role delivers meals, loads supplies and maintains sanitation standards while operating a cargo van.

You must be at least 21, hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and have a high school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

Drives food service cargo truck to and from delivery destinations; may set up catering upon delivery.
Loads and unloads delivery goods including food, supplies, laundry and mail.
Maintains sanitation and safety standards at all times.
Practices safe driving and extra caution on school property where students are present.
Performs basic vehicle maintenance such as fueling and oil checks.
Notifies supervisor of vehicle problems and completes repair work orders.
Maintains vehicle cleanliness inside and out.
Communicates effectively with coworkers and supervisors; maintains good relations with students and staff.
Works in a fast-paced environment and meets deadlines; can work with minimal supervision.
Assists with kitchen/food service/catering tasks when not delivering.
