Job summary

The Butler Area School District seeks a qualified Electrician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and safely operate electrical systems across district facilities. This full-time position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and an approved electrical apprenticeship or equivalent training, plus experience with commercial or large-scale

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of electrical systems, wiring methods, equipment, and building electrical maintenance.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
• Knowledge of fire alarm, security alarm, intrusion detection, access control, and emergency notification systems.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple requests across district facilities.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an approved electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent.
• Three years of experience with commercial, institutional, or large-scale building electrical systems.
• Valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
• Clearances required upon employment.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and replace electrical systems and components across district facilities.
• Maintain electrical systems in classrooms, offices, cafeterias, athletic facilities, mechanical spaces, outdoor areas, and other locations.
• Diagnose electrical problems using testing equipment and meters.
• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot HVAC and building control systems.
• Install and maintain lighting systems, interior and exterior, including emergency lighting.
• Work with electrical wiring, conduit, raceways, and panels.
• Coordinate with other maintenance staff and outside contractors on larger projects.
• Respond to electrical emergencies and after-hours requests as needed.
• Read and interpret plans and diagrams to ensure compliance with codes.
