Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking a reliable School Custodian to perform general cleaning at K-12 and higher education campuses. The role emphasizes keeping classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas sanitary and orderly, with attention to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, trash removal, cleaning of surfaces, and timely reporting of repairs. An 18+ requirement and on-the-job training are noted; prior customer service experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No experience required and on the job training provided.
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required.
• Prior customer service experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned areas including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices and stairs.
• Sweep, mop floors, remove debris, and clean spills in designated areas.
• Regularly check and empty trash receptacles.
• Follow procedures for chemical cleaners and power equipment.
• Notify lead cleaner or manager about repairs or additions to building systems.
• Maintain communication with clients, co-workers, and supervisors.
• Collect, separate, and recycle waste appropriately.
• Dust desks, chairs, tables, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceilings and walls.
• Polish wooden and stainless steel surfaces.
• Wipe tabletops and equipment in food areas.
• Move furniture and equipment as needed to complete cleaning tasks.
• Clean interior glass, windows and mirrors with appropriate cleaners.
• Perform seasonal tasks such as snow removal and lawn care as needed.
• Maintain restroom cleanliness and sanitation according to standards.
