Job summary

ABM is seeking a reliable School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties at a K-12 school, college or university campus environment. The role involves cleaning classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and other areas to maintain a safe and clean facility.

Qualifications include being 18+, with no diploma required; on-the-job training is provided. Preference is given to candidates with prior customer service experience and up to one year of similar work.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No experience required and on the job training provided.
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required.
• Prior customer service experience preferred.
• One year of prior similar work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned areas (classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, stairs).
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors in designated areas.
• Regularly check and empty trash receptacles in all designated areas.
• Follow procedures for chemical cleaners and power equipment to protect floors and fixtures.
• Notify lead cleaner or manager about repairs or additions to building systems.
• Maintain effective communication with clients, coworkers, shift coordinators, supervisors, and managers.
• Consolidate and separate recycling into proper receptacles.
• Clean and dust desks, chairs, tables, furniture, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceilings and walls.
• Polish hard surfaces like woodwork and stainless steel.
• Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs and equipment in food areas.
• Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment as needed for cleaning.
• Clean interior partition glass, windows, mirrors with appropriate cleaners.
• Sweep walks, rake leaves, and perform seasonal tasks as assigned.
• Maintain cleanliness of restrooms and comply with safety and quality standards.
