Job summary

Gonzales ISD is seeking a Substitute Custodian - DW to clean and maintain district facilities in Gonzales, TX. Responsibilities include cleaning floors, restrooms, windows, and keeping grounds neat and safe, with routine preventive maintenance and minor repairs as directed by the principal.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures
• Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment
• Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies
• Experience: None

Responsibilities

• Maintain a cleaning schedule including floors, chalkboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms
• Keep school building and grounds neat and clean including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas
• Assist in maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment
• Assist with lunchroom setup and arranging tables and chairs
• Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs; report major repairs
• Regulate HVAC to maintain appropriate temperatures and economical energy use
• Move furniture or equipment as directed by principal
• Set up facilities for special events
• Open/close building daily and ensure doors/panic bolts are functioning
• Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency
• Follow safety procedures and report unsafe conditions promptly
• Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures
• Safety and physical demands documented (lifting, pushing/pulling, work outdoors/indoors)
