Job summary

Redwood City School District (RCSD) is seeking a dedicated Custodian to perform routine cleaning and custodial activities at an assigned school site, under the direction of the Operations Manager.

The role requires cleaning classrooms, restrooms, gyms, and common areas, along with light repairs, safety checks, and reporting maintenance needs. Candidates should be able to lift, move furniture, follow safety procedures, and establish positive working relationships with staff and students.

Qualifications

• Sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above.
• Ability to perform heavy physical labor.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine custodial activities at assigned District site or plant.
• Clean classrooms, restrooms, showers, locker rooms, shops, cafeteria, gymnasium, offices and related facilities.
• Sweep, mop, scrub, wax and polish floors; clean walls and windows; arrange furniture for events.
• Replace light bulbs and lighting tubes; clean blinds; perform minor non-technical repairs as needed.
• Raise and lower flag; secure doors and gates; monitor security systems in assigned areas.
• Report safety, sanitary and fire hazards to appropriate authority and report maintenance needs.
